After a long period of hibernation, it’s time to wake up, stretch, and welcome back the sun.  The days are longer and warmer; everyone’s spirit is just a little bit brighter.  We shed our cumbersome outer layers, get outdoors, and soak up some much needed Vitamin D.  This workshop will explore Sun Salutation, the core sequence of Hatha Yoga practice.  The poses will be done individually at first, then, put together in a gentle flowing sequence which will energize the body, mind, and spirit.

April showers bring May flowers, and May brings with it sunshine, warmer weather, and of course, Mother’s Day!  In honor of this auspicious occasion, we will present a class specifically focused on Yoga for Women’s Health.  As nurturers, women tend to be stressed and sleep-deprived.  In general, often putting their own needs aside to take care of others.  This workshop is designed with the specific needs of women in mind, to help strengthen the body, relax the mind, and renew the spirit.

"Traditionally, throughout the ages, the practice of yoga was reserved almost exclusively for men." - Nishit Patel, Director of the Himalayan Institute in NYC.  This is because 5000 years ago in India, men were allowed to leave their homes and go study with a guru, while women have pretty much taken over the practice.  the benefits of yoga, however, transcend gender.  Men, as much as women, can benefit from the decreased stress, increased flexibility, improved circulation, muscle control, balance, body awareness, and increased peace and happiness that come from a regular yoga practice.  This workshop is designed to introduce "real men" to the benefits of yoga; no sports bra required.
